A major fire broke out at a fabric processing unit at Ajanta Compound in the power loom town of Bhiwandi in the district, police said.

"A massive fire broke out at a fabric sizing company located at Dhamankar Naka around 1.45 pm today," a police officer from Bhiwandi said.

Personnel of Bhoiwada police station and fire brigade are engaged in the firefighting and rescue operation.

Locals have complained that such accidents have become a regular phenomenon.

So far, no casualty has been reported, the police officer said.
