Every Marvel superhero stopped fighting crime for one night and shed a tear as their godfather and legend Stan Lee passed away at the age of 95, leaving behind a glorious legacy and a universe of superheroes.

The Former Marvel Comics President was declared dead at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, said Kirk Schenck, an attorney for Lee's daughter JC Lee.

Born on 28 December 1922, Stanley Martin Lieber started his career at the age of 18 as an assistant in Timely Comics, which became Marvel Comics in 1961 after Lee and Jack Kirby co-created the Fantastic Four. He went on to become the editor-in-chief, and later publisher and chairman of the group.

And the rest is history.

Lee was the brain behind several iconic Marvel characters, including Spiderman, the Incredible Hulk, Daredevil, Iron Man and others.

Almost always, his characters had flaws that the audience could easily relate to, and that was perhaps the reason most of figures became such huge hits.

As his creations graced the silver screen, so did the creator. Stan Lee had earned a reputation for his classic cameos in several Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. From a courier guy to a protector, and sometimes even himself, he had played them all.

With a sharp sense of humour and a glowing personality, even at 95, Stan Lee was an inspiration to the millions of comic book writers, readers and audiences across the world.
