Millions of Muslims all over India celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday, 16 June, marking the end of Islamic holy month of Ramzan.

Known as a time of forgiveness and rebirth, Eid-ul-Fitr comes with the sighting of the new moon.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished everybody on Twitter.

It is a significant Muslim festival involving activities including prayers, asking for forgiveness and pledging solidarity, social gatherings and family reunions as well as giving to charity.

Eid-ul-Fitr falls on the first day of Shawwal, the tenth month of the lunar Islamic Calendar.

Celebrations are on in full swing all across India.
