In what was a successful operation, doctors in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, have managed to separate the head and arms of a parasitic twin that had got attached to a healthy baby. The parasitic twin’s body parts had attached themselves to the baby’s chest and torso.
On November 23rd, doctors at Umaid Women’s Hospital in Jodhpur separated the underdeveloped twin in a complex surgery that took three hours. The surgery was complicated as the babies shared one heart and liver.
The baby, who has been christened Sunny, was moved to the ICU for a week and was discharged on Monday morning. Sunny’s parents, shocked at the condition of their newborn, are now coming to terms with the operation’s success.
Father Damaram Soni, 28, who works as a carpenter, is so elated with his son’s homecoming that he says he will throw a feast for the whole village once Sunny’s bandages are removed.
