A national outrage had been sparked after a viral video of CRPF jawans on election duty being heckled and attacked by Kashmiri locals had surfaced. Vicky Vishwakarma, who was among those jawans said that it was due to his training that he was able to show so much restraint.
We had just come out of polling booth when Kashmiri locals attacked us. They were chanting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’. We used our experience and training and showed restraint and calm. They assaulted us, but we are trained to handle and tolerate it.Vicky Vishwakarma, CRPF Jawan
J&K DGP SP Vaid said that 11 individuals were identified as part of the heckling group of locals, five of them arrested, and two others were being questioned. The main accused, however, is still absconding.
