Volunteers from the right-wing group Hindu Yuva Vahini barged into a couple’s house in Meerut and clamped them down. The Muslim boy and Hindu girl were dragged out of the house and taken to the nearest police station. The boy was bombarded with questions like, “Who is your father? What are you doing here? What is your brother’s name? Sister’s name?”
Section in charge of Meerut’s Hindu Yuva Vahini Nagendra Singh Tomar accused the boy of religious conversion. “The boy told us that he was there for religious conversion. He says he loves the girl, wants to convert her to his religion,” said Nagendra Singh.
