Ahead of the crucial Karnataka assembly elections on 12 May in all the 224 constituencies of the state, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate BS Yeddyurappa have trained their guns on each other. With the poll date fast approaching, both are confident of gaining people’s mandate in the state.

Siddaramaiah, who is confident of a clear victory and a comeback for the Congress government in the state, has denied any possibility of a hung assembly. Siddaramaiah has said that he believes his government has fulfilled all the promises made to the people of the state and that his party’s good work in the state will pay off.

BJP is a communal party. Whether it is at the Centre or State, it is a communal party. We have to defeat the communal forces. BJP is creating a bad atmosphere. They are spoiling the peace in society. I wish all secular-minded people come together to fight the communal forces at the Centre.

Yeddyurappa is confident of his party gaining an absolute majority and forming government in the state. Putting to rest all predictions, speculations and opinion polls projecting a comeback for the Congress party, BSY has claimed that people are fed up with the current government and want a change of power. Reminding voters of the unpredictable victory by BJP in Uttar Pradesh in 2017 Assembly polls, Yeddyurappa has said that he is confident of recreating that magic in Karnataka.

In all spheres, he (Siddaramaiah) has cheated the people. The people are fed up, they want a change. Siddaramaiah has created a farmer crisis. People are disappointed with the corruption, administration and breakdown of law and order in the state. He has destroyed Bengaluru, making it the rape city, which is infested with crime.
