A chartered plane crashed in an under-construction building in Mumbai's Ghatkopar area. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) confirmed that a pedestrian, as well as two pilots and two engineers on-board the Beechcraft King Air C90, were killed. The aircraft crashed while it was on a test flight.
The aircraft, which was reportedly sold by the Uttar Pradesh government to UY Aviation in 2014, still carried the logo of the UP government, according to the state’s principal secretary of information.
Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu took to Twitter to express grief over the crash and said that he has directed the DGCA to conduct an investigation at the earliest.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited the site of the crash and said that the guilty will be brought to justice. "It is a worrying incident. What were the reasons behind the crash and who is responsible for it needs to be looked into,” said Fadnavis.
