Maruti Suzuki kicked off their Auto Expo 2018 with the showcase of their crossover concept, the Future Concept S.

The Future-S Concept is a micro SUV and has typical urban crossover characteristics of high ground clearance and a high upright seating position. No details about engine options have been revealed so far.

The car is said to be a direct competitor to the likes of KUV 100 or the Tata Nexon. If reports are to be believed, the new vehicle is also touted to be an entry-level hatchback segment competitor to Kwid.

The car features a futuristic SUV design, with sleek LED headlamps that are joined by a grille/panel. The daytime running LED outline adds to its hi-tech look and feel.

The high-ground clearance, including the wide arches and haunches, give the car a bold stance. We loved the huge black wheels on the concept – but it is unlikely that this will be the wheel size on the production car. The lack of a traditional grille suggests this concept is electric powered.

The impressive rear design bear tail lamps that appear to be similar to the headlamps –with the Suzuki badge in the center of the Bootlid.

At a distance, the car may look like a coupe, but it has the same number of doors as all other Maruti models in the country (Yes it has suicide doors that you’d see on a Rolls Royce)

Another unusual thing about the car is the fact that the concept on display did not have any rear-view mirrors. It had rear-view cameras instead.

Maruti has announced that production will begin in a few years from now. The orange tint, with hints of pearl-white, along with the bulky black wheels give the car a great look. However, we have no choice but to wait to see how the production variant will differ. One thing is for sure, if this vehicle is a sign of Maruti Suzuki’s design language of the future, then colour us impressed.
