Bharatiya Janata Party chief Amit Shah went all out against the SP-BSP alliance on Wednesday, 30 January, when he conducted a series of rallies across Uttar Pradesh. Addressing party workers in Kanpur, Shah also made fun of Opposition parties' attempts to forge a ‘Mahagathbandhan’, saying if they came to power, the country would see a different prime minister every day of the week.

On Monday, Behenji will be the PM, on Tuesday Akhilesh Yadav, on Wednesday Mamata Banerjee, on Thursday Sharad Pawar, on Friday Deve Gowda and on Saturday it will be MK Stalin and on Sunday the country will be on leave.

This is not a one off comment. Recently, in his rallies, Shah has been making statements that are more likely to trend on social media. Be it a funny one-liner or an acronym that targets the anti-BJP parties. Taking a jibe at the Congress party during a rally in Una, Himachal Pradesh, on 28 January, Shah provided a new definition for OROP.

When the BJP government was formed, within a year PM Modi delivered on his promise of One Rank One Pension. Modi ji gave OROP to our jawans, Congress gave ‘Only Rahul Only Priyanka’.

But will a social media-centric campaign help the BJP retain power in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections?
