Security Beefed up as Amarnath Yatra Under Possible Terror Threat
Amid reports of a possible terror threat, security for the annual Amarnath Yatra set to commence on 29 June has been beefed up. Though the yatra has a history of such threats, tension is speculated to heighten this year with the dates coinciding with the death anniversary of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani.
Even in the seemingly volatile situation, the Jammu & Kashmir Police has assured a safe and incident-free yatra pilgrims.
Five Indian Army Battalions man the entire length of the track while round-the-clock patrolling has been deployed on the highways.
