Amid reports of a possible terror threat, security for the annual Amarnath Yatra set to commence on 29 June has been beefed up. Though the yatra has a history of such threats, tension is speculated to heighten this year with the dates coinciding with the death anniversary of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani.

Even in the seemingly volatile situation, the Jammu & Kashmir Police has assured a safe and incident-free yatra pilgrims.

Police have made necessary arrangements for security. We are working in tandem with the army, security forces and intelligence agencies. We have complete belief that the Yatra will take place with complete safety
