For the rehabilitation and reformation of prison inmates, Agra jail authorities in Uttar Pradesh have come up with an creative initiative. The authorities launched an internal radio station on Wednesday, 31 July, which will be run by the inmates itself.
According to ANI, Senior Superintendent of Police Babloo Kumar said that it was an attempt by the administration to create “a peaceful atmosphere in the jail”.
"This radio station will be a source of entertainment for prisoners. It will be operated by a prisoner. Programmes like special song request, health programmes and spiritual songs will be played. It will help in reducing their stress," Kumar said.
"This initiative has been taken to divert prisoners' minds from negativity and help them choose a positive path," he told ANI.
