During the no-confidence motion debate in the Lok Sabha on Friday, 20 July, Congress President Rahul Gandhi launched a fiery attack on the Narendra Modi government. He fired a volley of questions towards the prime minister in his speech, which, quite surprisingly, ended with him hugging the PM.

From demonetisation to unemployment rates and mob lynchings to women’s security , Gandhi touched upon a range of topics to target the Modi government.

Here are 8 big questions posed by Rahul Gandhi to PM Modi:

Why is PM Modi Silent on the Rafale Deal?

I don’t know who he talked to, but our prime minister went to France. The whole nation knows who he went with. Magically, the prices of jets increased to Rs 1,600 crore per jet.

The BJP MPs, including Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, brought the house down when Gandhi raked up the Rafale aircraft deal with the French government. Gandhi claimed that the defence minister had lied when she told the nation she couldn’t reveal information about the deal because of a ‘secret pact’ with the French government – a pact he said the French President told him didn’t exist. He attacked the BJP for ‘favouritism’ in assigning the Rafale deal to a businessman with no experience in building planes, instead of to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

Why did PM Modi Fail to Raise Doklam Issue With Beijing?

The prime minister sat on a swing with the President of China on a riverbank in Gujarat. Simultaneously, 1,000 Chinese soldiers were in Indian territory. The Chinese president left and assigned his soldiers to Doklam. Our soldiers proved their strength and stood against China. A few days after that, the prime minister goes to China. In Xian, he declares to the world that the dialogue will be without any agenda. ‘We shall not talk about Doklam’.

Why Is There a Fuel Price Hike Only in India?

The price of fuel is falling across the world, whereas it is rising in India because Modi wants to fill his friends’ pockets.

Why Is the PM Silent on Atrocities Against Women?

For the first time in history, India has failed to protect her women. There are gang rapes. Women are abused and tortured.

Why is the PM Silent on Atrocities on Dalits and Minorities?

People are getting tortured, lynched and killed but the prime minister doesn’t utter a word. Are Dalits, minorities and tribals not from India? Are the women not from India? So when this happens, why is the PM silent?

Why is the PM Silent on Mob Lynchings?

Somewhere or the other an Indian is being killed or thrashed. This is not right for the nation. So when something like this happens, it is the PM’s duty to tell the nation how he feels.

Why are Loans Waived Off for the Rich and Not for the Poor Farmers?

Everybody understands the relationship the PM has with certain business people. The farmers pleaded with the PM to waive off their loans. He waived off Rs 2.5 crore of some 15-16 rich people, but didn’t listen to the farmers. The PM only talks to 15-16 businessmen. What the farmers and the underprivileged feel...it doesn’t reach the Prime Minister.

Why is the PM Silent on Jay Shah?

When Jay Shah increases his income 16,000 times, the Prime Minister is silent.
