In an intriguing case of inter-faith bonding, a Hindu man donated his kidney to a Muslim woman while her husband’s kidney was transplanted to the former’s wife.
Taslim Jahan and Anita Mehra were undergoing dialysis at a private hospital in Jaipur. However, owing to their young age, the nephrologist treating them suggested that they opt for a transplant.
Taslim and Anita’s blood groups, though, didn’t match their husbands’. However, the blood group of Taslim’s husband Anwar Ahmed turned out to be the same as Anita’s. And Anita’s spouse Vinod Mehra’s blood group matched Taslim’s.
So, defying religious boundaries, the two men decided to help each other in the name of humanity. This is the first such case in Rajasthan.
