On the 106th birth anniversary of Mother Teresa, the Missionaries for Charity in Kolkata offered special prayers. Priests and nuns sang carols to honour the Mother.

Mother Teresa will be canonised on 4 September at the Vatican by the Pope. After the ceremony Mother Teresa will henceforth be known as ‘Saint Teresa’.

Canonisation takes place after the Catholic Church investigates and verifies if the candidate has met all the necessary requirements. This includes at least two miracles performed by the saint’s intercession.
