The khaki we recognise our cops by is a pain to wear in the summers. But guess what, it is well on its way out: the premier National Institute of Design (NID) is designing a new uniform for our khaki heroes, which will not be so brutal in the heat, and will be standardised across all states, Union Territories and central paramilitary forces, as reported by The Times of India.
Indeed, a few of the cops The Quint spoke too unanimously told us that their uniform was too thick for the summer, and that they would prefer a fabric like cotton instead.
The new uniform will have beige shirts and black pants, the cops told us.
Nine prototypes have been developed for the same, considering all factors like the location, geography and nature of duties etc, in association with Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D).
