Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Tuesday took strong exception to Delhi police’s action at state-owned Kerala House in Delhi over beef served at its canteen. Chandy told the media in Kozhikode that the police should have shown restraint.
The state guest house is not a hotel. The police should have followed certain guidelines while raiding a canteen at a government guest house. We would make our protest formal by writing to Delhi government
— Oommen Chandy, Kerala Chief Minister
A call to the police control room (PCR) complaining about beef curry being served at Kerala House near Jantar Mantar threw the police into a tizzy on Monday. A team was sent there to avert any “untoward incident”.
The policemen took no chance and the input was immediately passed on to Parliament Street police station, from where a team was sent to Kerala House to deal with any potential violence, said the official.
