He’s won our hearts with his performance on the field and well, off the field too, Rupinder Pal Singh has earned his fare share of fans. A star hockey player and world-class penalty corner specialist, the 6’4’’ lad from Punjab was among the top performers in the Indian hockey team in 2016.
Spearheading the hockey revolution in the recent past, Rupinder was the Asian Champions Trophy’s top scorer and India’s top goal scorer at the 2016 Rio Olympics. A childhood hobby that became a passion and then a career, hockey has become the centre of Rupinder’s life and the hockey stick his only love.
After leading India in a few international matches abroad, Rupinder Pal Singh has been named captain of Delhi Waverider’s in the fifth edition of the Hockey India League starting on 21 January.
In this candid interview with The Quint, Rupinder tell us why how started playing hockey and who he’d like to take on a valentines day date.
