But as 2019 Lok Sabha elections approach, the men behind the ‘lahthi’ industry are hoping for a miracle, with their industry in bad shape. The workers in the ‘lahthi’ industry come from the Laheri caste. The market for ‘lahthi’ is losing its buzz and artisans are upset with the district administration and the banks.

With increasing financial hardships and government neglect, artisans are turning away from the business.
