An SIT court has pronounced the quantum of punishments for 24 convicts in the 2002 Gulbarg Society Massacre case.
The sentencing had been deferred twice in the past. Eleven of the 24 have been sentenced to life imprisonment, while 12 have been given seven years of jail time. One has been sent to jail for 10 years.
The victims are not happy with the court’s verdict and tell The Quint that had the accused been Muslims, the punishment would have been different.
The massacre was responsible for the deaths of 69 people, including former Congressman and parliamentarian Ehsan Jafri.
