A herd of cattle drowned in a churning river in Mandsaur city in Madhya Pradesh. Strong currents swept the cattle downstream, giving them no chance to cross to the other side.
At least 4,000 cattle and 20 have been killed in Madhya Pradesh, and 70,000 have been rendered homeless, as water rose to dangerous levels along parts of the Narmada river. Rescue operations have been carried out by the MP government.
