The Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti, led by Hardik Patel, took to the streets on Tuesday to demand their share in the Other Backward Classes reservation in Ahmedabad.
A violent clash broke out between the protesters and police officials, after which the protesters smashed bus windows and pelted stones.
Earlier in the day, Hardik Patel had addressed a rally which was attended by about nine lakh people. The Patidars have been asking for reservations within the 27% OBC quota.
