A gangrape survivor from Hisar has slapped a legal notice on actor Salman Khan, seeking an apology for his rape remark. She seeks Rs 10 crore from the actor as a compensation for hurting the sentiments of rape victims.
The notice was sent to the Bollywood superstar at his Galaxy Apartments address on Saturday.
The victim pointed out Salman Khan’s attempt to ‘joke about the plight’ of a rape victim by comparing an action sequence to the status of a raped woman.
The victim, who was kidnapped by 10 people and gangraped four years ago in Hisar, is seeking death penalty for the accused who were given life sentence by the court.
Upon being asked how it felt while doing the strenuous shooting of Sultan, Salman responded that he felt like a raped woman. He could barely stand straight after the shoot.
The statement invited sharp rebuke on social media. His father and writer Salim Khan apologised on behalf of his son and admitted the statement was in bad taste.
A case was registered in Kanpur and Lucknow courts on 23 June against the actor.
