Sanju is undoubtedly the most talked about film of 2018, and each and every individual who has been part of this film is extremely proud of it. And that includes Dia Mirza, who plays Maanayata, Sanjay Dutt’s wife.
We caught up with the actor for a chat and she shared that her biggest fear is of not getting interesting work, and how overjoyed she was when her favourite director Rajkumar Hirani offered her this role opposite Ranbir Kapoor who plays Sanjay Dutt in the biopic.
Dia shares her jaw dropping-moment when she was shown Ranbir Kapoor’s look test by the filmmaker. She says, “I was like what is happening! Has he become Sanjay Dutt?” But Dia agrees the sweetest reaction was of Sanjay Dutt when he saw Ranbir as Sanju. She says, “He just kept looking at him, he had tears in his eyes.”
She also talks about her experience of working with Ranbir Kapoor. She admits that Ranbir is a gifted actor and he just makes a scene very natural. And that he has oodles of patience. Dia just couldn’t stop talking about Ranbir and yes, it was all good things. She also says how he would crack jokes with a straight face and you would never know if he is actually kidding or if he is serious. He has even told her scandalous stuff that she has believed till Rajkumar Hirani confirmed that Ranbir was bluffing.
Sanju is a biopic on Sanjay Dutt directed by Rajkumar Hirani and starring Ranbir Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Vicky Kaushal, Dia Mirza, and Sonam Kapoor. The film is set to hit theaters on 29 June, 2018.
