A 43-year-old assistant manager of a liquor store was stabbed multiple times before being shot dead near his house in Mehrauli late on Tuesday night.

Police are scanning CCTV footage of the incident, in which four assailants can be seen waiting for the victim. Soon after the victim’s car arrived, it was blocked by another car and one of the assailants broke open his window.

The victim was identified as Brij Bhushan, who worked at a liquor store run by the Delhi Tourism department.

The accused stabbed the victim and when he resisted, they shot him twice in the abdomen. The assailants then continued hitting him, using his car door to crush his leg before fleeing the spot.

The Delhi Police has started investigating the matter and suspect “personal enmity” to be the reason behind the murder. Chimney Biswal, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (south), told the The Indian Express that they have formed a team to nab the culprits.

Police have also started questioning Bhutan’s colleagues at the liquor store.

Witnesses said that they didn’t have the time to react because everything happened very quickly.
