The indefinite strike in Darjeeling entered its eighth day on 22 June, with the Mamata Banerjee government clashing with the Bimal Gurung-led Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM).

The indefinite bandh, coupled with the several restrictions imposed by the West Bengal government, has brought life to a standstill in the district. The government’s latest move, the complete shutdown of internet services, has only added to the woes of the residents of Darjeeling, who are caught in the middle of the battle for Gorkhaland.

The Quint has opened up a phone line for the residents of Darjeeling so that they can tell their story.
