1. PM Modi Biopic Banned by EC. NaMo TV Next?
The Election Commission of India (EC) put a ban on the release of the biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during poll season on Wednesday, 10 April, just a day before it was slated to be released. In its order, the commission said that “any such film that subserves purpose of any political entity or individual should not be displayed in the electronic media.” Is NaMo TV also going to be banned? Voters will cast their ballots in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Odisha, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep. 3. This Election Season, Don’t be a WebQoof!
A viral post is doing rounds on WhatsApp and other online platforms, claiming that voters who hold an Indian passport can vote online in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The message further contains a link to ECI’s website, where it claims that NRI voters can enroll online. This claim is partially true. The ECI does provide an option for NRI voters to enroll online however, they cannot vote online during the polls as the viral message claims. Read the full story here.
