It takes guts and strength to single-handedly fight against misogyny, nepotism and some powerful Bollywood bullies and Kangana Ranaut has done it all.

From tagging Karan Johar as the “flag-bearer of nepotism” to calling out sexism in Bollywood industry, she has been out loud about the struggles of being an “outsider” and a woman in the Hindi film business, where heroines are often used just as props to sell a movie.

It’s of course very cool to fight male chauvinism, but what’s cooler is to stand up for other actors and Kangana has done that time and again.

You may know that Kangana Ranaut, who turns 31 today (23 March), was offered to play the lead in The Dirty Picture. She has often spoken about how she regrets not doing the cult film. The film became a blockbuster and also won Vidya Balan her first National Award, but, did that make things “dirty” between the two actresses? No! In fact, in an interview with Rajeev Masand, Kangana admitted that Vidya was beyond brilliant in the Silk Smitha biopic and justified the role better than she ever could. She went on to say that she would have made the character look “sleazy”. Now, that takes some kind of mettle, right?

That’s not it. She even defended Swara Bhasker’s open letter on Padmaavat and hit back at trolls who slut-shammed the Anaarkali of Aarah actor. On many occasions, she has also appreciated and acknowledged the work of her contemporaries like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha, to name a few.

Kanagana Ranaut has fearlessly spoken on issues and stood up for whatever she believes in, she has been attacked by many, but that doesn’t stop Bollywood’s ‘Queen’ of sass. Stay the way you’re, Kangana! This industry needs more like you.
