Switzerland-based company Algordanza is turning human ashes to diamonds with an innovative technique by isolating the carbon from human ashes and putting it through an intense pressure and heat. Compared to thousands of years which a natural diamond takes to form, Algordanza diamonds are ready within a span of two weeks and are a perfect symbol of remembrance of your loved ones.
Most people keep the memories of their loved ones alive with pictures and by visiting their burial sites after they have passed away but Rinaldo Willy, founder of Algordanza diamonds, has come up with an innovative idea of turning the remains of your loved ones into precious diamonds.
After cremation, the ashes weigh around 2.5Kg, but only 500 grams is enough to produce a diamond. The remains are put through high temperatures ranging from 1,600 to 2,000 degrees to turn them into graphite. This graphite is then subjected to intense sustained pressure which creates the diamond, and then cut and polished according to the client’s request.
