Triumphant Aizawl FC returned home to a grand welcome on Monday after becoming the first Northeastern club to win the I-League. In an otherwise honk-free town, horns blared as fans accompanied the team vehicle from the Lengpui Airport to the Assam Rifles Ground.
With the cheers of fans reverberating at the ground, the army band, cultural troupe and singers performed at the celebrations.
AFC owner Robert Romawia Royte announced a Rs 25 lakh reward for the players and management team. Home Minister R Lalzirliana said AFC will be exempted from taxes.
