The scars, mind you, are not just restricted to the body, they hurt on a deeper level. Even the best meaning people can hurt you with their piercing eyes, when they look at you not as a person, but solely as a victim. The scars, on the other hand, draw fear and loathing in some eyes.
But why must an acid attack survivor always be the victim, she who has been wronged? Why can’t she get up, dust herself, and get on with life, without denting her ambitions and aspirations and desires? That’s the spirit with which Reshma Qureshi came out with her beauty blog, where she taught other women how to get that perfect pout. Her video was talked about globally.
And now, Reshma is all set to walk the ramp for fashion brand FTL Moda at the New York Fashion Week. This is Reshma’s first overseas trip.

Ria Ma’am is her friend, and the Founder and CEO of the NGO Make Love Not Scars, the organisation for which Reshma is the head campaigner.
Reshma says she wants more and more people to know about her story, and hopes that through the impact of her story, and of other women like her, the sale of acid can finally be stopped.
