Aahana Kumra Tells Us How She Transformed Into Priyanka Gandhi

Aahana Kumra on how shocked she was to see herself as Priyanka Gandhi in ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ look test.

Post the success of Lipstick Under My Burkha, Aahana Kumra has been on a signing spree having bagged a host of shor films, features and web shows. Aahana will also soon be see in The Accidental Prime Minister as Priyanka Gandhi. We caught up with the actor who told us about how she got chosen to play Priyanka Gandhi in the film and the effort that went into preparing for the role.

Aahana Kumra says, “As soon as they put me in that saree and a nice watch, a very simple one and studs, put me in this head gear, I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ It took me a minute to even realise that I do, I can resemble her (Priyanka Gandhi) so I think it was a bit spooky for me as well and I remember they took pictures and there was a lot of back and forth and everybody was really spooked out.”

Aahana also tells us how lucky she is to be able to work on different platforms, be it cinema, web or theatre. “I am happy that I am getting all the platforms and I am glad that people are approaching me for work on all platforms. I think it is a very good time for actors right now because you know you are not really confined to only theatre,” says the actor.

Aahana is also doing a web series titled Ready 2 Mingle in which she plays Myra who is a matchmaker and when we asked about matchmaking in real life, she says she is terrible at it but has tried it several times with her friends. “I don't think I am really good at it. I have been wrong a lot of times and the mothers have called me up and were like, ‘who did you make me meet my son!’ and I did go like, ‘what did I do?!’".
