Virat Kohli’s Indian cricket team lost to Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy final, lost is of course, putting it mildly. But with Kidambi Srikanth’s big badminton win and the Indian hockey team’s 7-1 thrashing of Pakistan - the day wasn't all that bad for Indian sports fans.
Here’s a quick wrap of the big matches from “Super Sunday”.

First up it was Kidambi Srikanth in the finals of the Indonesia Open Super Series Premier. Premier meaning, he was playing amongst the big boys of the sport. Ranked 22nd himself, Srikanth had beaten the world number 1 in the semis and in the final, Japan’s Kazumasa Sakai was beaten 21-11 21-19 in just 37 minutes. Srikanth picking up his third Super Series title and a cool 75,000 dollars in prize money

Hockey started on a sombre note with the Indian team sporting armbands to condole the deaths of Indian army martyrs in the recent attacks on the border. After, once the match started, it was India on top for most of the game. Harmanpreet Singh, Talwinder Singh, Akashdeep Singh and Pardeep Mor all scored in the 7-1 win — the scoreline also India’s biggest victory ever over Pakistan. India through to the quarters of the World Hockey League semi finals event.

Last came the cricket result. Virat chose to bowl and three overs into the match, came what was eventually one of the biggest turning points. Jasprit Bumrah got Fakhar Zaman caught on 3… but to a no ball. The opener went to score a century. The Indian bowlers were caught in the cold. 339 was the target set.
Third ball and Rohit Sharma was out. Virat Kohli had a catch dropped in the slips but next ball he decides to deliver one straight to the slip fielder. Some late fireworks from Pandya but India had lost this one in the first 10 overs. A massive 180 run loss. Pakistan’s biggest ODI win over India. Sarfraz Khan - a Champions Trophy winning captain.
But then, two wins in three - not bad right?
