Ahead of the launch of his new book, Sita: Warrior of Mithila, Amish Tripathi spoke to The Quint about discrimination against women in India.

Calling the current state of affairs “shameful”, he called out the “idiots” who ask women to not read scriptures. Amish pointed out that parts of the Rig Veda, the first of the four Vedas, have been written by ‘rishikas’ or women equivalents of prophets and messiahs.

Among other things, he also spoke of Sita who he portrays as a warrior in his upcoming book. He added that perhaps one day he will also write an entire series with a woman protagonist.
