Pained by the dwindling green cover in his city and across the world, taxi driver Dhananjay Chakraborty has converted his yellow ambassador into a mobile garden.
He calls it ‘Sabuj Rath’ or the ‘green chariot’. With a garden rooftop, eight potted plants in the trunk and a green interior, Dhananjay wishes to give a message to his passengers, “Ghas Bachao Ghas Lagao”, simply put: Grow more tress!
His passengers appreciate the comfort of the non-AC ambassador car, making this ‘green chariot’ a huge success on the streets of Kolkata.
The green crusader says he has been making efforts to save the environment since he was a child.
Apart from taking his ‘Sabuj Rath’ across the length and breadth of Kolkata, he also dedicates most of his time in promoting environmental awareness.
Dhananjay now dreams of making his city pollution-free and appeals to the government to help him with his initiative.
