Bundelkhand residents allege that they have lost a lot to the fact that their land lies partly in Madhya Pradesh and partly in Uttar Pradesh.

They allege that allocations of funds for their region are often usurped by the respective state governments and the people of this region face lack of job opportunities.

Our region is split between two state and their govts. So the schemes and plans for the region get embroiled in corruption. Either by the UP government or by the MP government

Congress supporters however hope that Rahul’s visit will bring respite from the current situation.

We have high hopes from Rahul Gandhi. When congress was in power, he got MNREGA here. He also got the farmers’ power bills waived off

However, everyone does not share the same view.

We don’t need any packages. We used to have 21 vidhan sabha (Assembly) seats which have been reduced by two. Nearly 15 lakh people have left the region. And (how come) Rahul Gandhi remembers Bundelkhand (only) now?

The locals believe that separate statehood is the only solution to their problems.
