BJP Parl Party Meets To Pick UP CM, Rumours Swirl Around Rajnath

At the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) parliamentary party meeting in Delhi, the party top brass set the tone for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking party leaders to reach out to young voters.

The meeting, the first after the results for the Assembly elections were announced, was held to decide the party’s pick for Chief Minister in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

BJP chief Amit Shah said the parliamentary elections are the next big challenge for the party following its win in the recently concluded state polls.

PM Modi said youngsters depend on mobile phones more than on newspapers and TV channels to get information and stressed on the need to use this medium of communication to tap them. He also asked the party leaders to reach out to students of Class XII.

After the meeting Anant Kumar of BJP said:

At the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting the Prime Minister said youth should be made ambassadors of good work of the government.

Union Minister Rajnath Singh is rumoured to be one of the leading candidates in the UP CM race. However, Singh has dismissed all rumours.

BJP’s Uttar Pradesh unit president Keshav Prasad Maurya met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, amid heightened speculation over the new Chief Minister of UP. Maurya’s name is also doing the rounds for the top job.
