Food joint Burger Singh issued a response on allegations of demonstrating insensitivity by cashing in on the surgical attacks conducted by India on PoK.

Burger Singh on Thursday had announced a 20 percent discount on all online orders in the wake of the strikes as a marketing strategy to increase sales. After the move was looked down by many for poor taste, the food joint released a statement saying said it was not in their “intention to hurt, harm or exhibit prejudice towards anyone or their beliefs”.

In a second response Burger Singh said on Facebook:

We would further like to establish that we support the government’s decisive and prompt action to preserve the honour of our armed forces and the dignity of our country. We are AGAINST terrorism and love our nation. It was never our intention to hurt, harm or otherwise prejudice anyone or their beliefs.

It also announced a raise in its discount from 20 to 30 percent with a “politically correct Coupon Code - strike30”.

The restaurant had earlier offered a 20% discount on all online orders, the coupon code of which is “fpak20.”
The text message that has been sent is: “In light of the surgical strikes by India defence forces on terrorist camps (PoK). We offer 20% off on all orders on www.burgersinghonline.com. Coupon code: fpak20.”

What strikes the most about this message is the use of “fpak20.” One can only wonder what the restaurant means by this.

Director General of Military Operations Lt General Ranbir Singh confirmed the surgical strikes across the Line of Control on late Wednesday night. The counter-terrorist operations come in the wake of an attack on the Army headquarters in Uri on 18 September that resulted in the killing of 19 soldiers.
