Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday condemned the killing of 17 soldiers on an army camp at Uri in Jammu and Kashmir and said those responsible for it will not go unpunished.

The attack took place at around 5:30 am, when fidayeen (suicide) militants attacked the rear base camp of an infantry battalion in the border town.

Four terrorists were also killed. Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday postponed his scheduled visit to Russia and the United States in the wake of the attack in Uri and the unrest in Jammu and Kashmir and called an emergency meeting to review the situation arising out of the terror strike.
