In the world of smartphones, where everything these days is about radical innovation and doing something ‘Jhatak’, sometimes you have to think ‘Simple’, sometimes you have to be ‘Ordinary’.

The LG G6 screams simplicity, not to mention that its devoid of all the modules and curves; things that made LG stand out. But, is LG trying to tell us something here with the G6’s simple design? Or have they messed up this phone? Let’s take a look.

Definitely More to See Here

The display has been stretched longer now, which takes the ratio to 18:9 giving you more to see with less bulk. It’s protected efficiently with Gorilla Glass on both the back and front.

LG said that the phone has undergone 14 military standard tests, which tells us that the phone is a tank. It comes with Dolby Vision technology, which gives a sharper and more colourful output. The first of its kind on a smartphone.

Performance? Okay-ish

This is where the G6 lags. It’s running on a Snapdragon 821 chipset with 4GB RAM.

Really! Snapdragon 821 for Rs 51,990? Big deal-breaker.

The phone comes bundled with Google Assistant; a feature growing on trees these days.

The LG UX interface has been kept clean in the phone, so very little bloatware to tackle. It also comes with 64GB internal storage, expandable up to 2TB. It supports USB Type-C charging and has a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The ‘Cam Glam’

LG is really trying to sell the G6 camera and you can rest assured, it’s a good camera. It sports a 13-megapixel dual lens with f/2.2 aperture and a 5-megapixel secondary snapper.

Both front and back cameras come with a wide-angle lens, giving you more depth in your pictures. And now you can comfortably fit all your chachas aur aunties in one selfie frame. It also has modes like Snap, Match, and Grid to help you play around with your photos.

Battery? Thoda Hai, Thode ki Zaroorat Hai

A display this big deserves a big battery, right? Get ready to be disappointed. The LG G6 comes with only a 3300mAh non-removable battery.

LG has worked hard enough to make sure the battery doesn’t explode, but they should have added a little more juice. It also comes with QuickCharge 3.0 that charges the phone in less than an hour.

Worth the ‘Moolah’?

By pricing the phone at Rs 51,990, LG is inviting trouble. At the moment, we can’t find anything that makes it worth the price tag. Only after a complete review will we be able to tell whether there’s anything about the phone that makes us go WOW!
