Reliance Jio 4G speeds are now faster than Airtel and Vodafone. This verdict has been shared by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) this week. According to the data published, Jio 4G speeds have dramatically improved over the period up to December 2016, putting them at the top of the speed charts.
The numbers shared have been sourced via TRAI’s MySpeed app, available for Android and iOS users in the country. We find it interesting to see that Jio has somewhat managed to improve on its overall network, enabling users with fast speeds, over their free internet plans such as Jio Welcome Offer.

However, Jio really needs to better its upload speeds, where it still ranks below the top 3; Airtel, Vodafone and Idea.
These numbers are limited to December 2016 (when the Welcome Offer was applicable). During this time, users on Jio network were getting 4GB data usage per day, after which the speeds dropped to 128 kbps. From January 2017 onwards, with Jio New Year Offer, this limit has been revised to 1GB/day.
TRAI has also revealed that Jio 4G had the highest number of new subscribers in October 2016 and for the rest of period, the numbers are yet to be shared.
So, one will have to wait and watch if the change in data plan with Jio’s HNY offer directly has an effect on their overall numbers.
