Apple’s latest demand from the Indian government to make in India is to offer tax breaks to its contract manufacturers, the same conditions the company has asked for itself.

But as per a latest Reuters report, the Indian government has not shared its consent on the matter, and pointed out that such concessions will require framing of new policies, being fair to other device makers as well.

Apple believes that their state-of-art technology, which will be imported into the country for the manufacturing of iPhone, ensures making of top-quality handsets. They had even charted out multiple conditions in 2016, and Tim Cook even made a point of visiting PM Modi in India in 2016, and he also met him recently in the US.

Earlier in 2017, it was highlighted that what Apple’s asking from the Indian government to make iPhone in India, was too steep, and both parties needed to find a common ground to get the ball rolling.

They’ve even asked for tax-free importing of handset parts, tax concessions on assembling the devices, but in return, the Indian regime wants Apple to focus on creating job opportunities in the long run, which is yet to be promised by the Cupertino-based giant.

It seems the long-standing saga of ‘will Apple make in India, or not’ is set to rumble on, which leads to delay in Apple’s ambition of manufacturing in the country, and even setting up shop.
