The Indian Air Force has launched its second official mobile game for both Android and iOS smartphones. Dubbed Indian Air Force: A Cut Above, the action-packed flight simulator game mixes air combat and rescue missions to keep the gameplay engaging.

The game has been developed by Threye: Military Games, a company based out of Dwarka in Delhi. This is the second game it has developed for the Indian Air Force where the first game was launched back in 2014, called Guardians of the Skies.

Indian Air Force: A Cut Above lets users make changes to the avatar of the game which by default is Wing Commander Abhinandan. It also gives you an option to use your own face as the avatar.

The game is available on Google Play Store and Apple App store and is 279MB in size.

The game has been split into three modes: Single Player, Free Flight, and Training. Players will have to complete the training in order to unlock missions. There are ten missions in the Single Player mode and each missions gets tougher as you progress in the game.

The graphics are good but I was a bit disappointed with the audio effects and even the music choice, specifically in the Training Mode. The developers need to work more in these areas.

In terms of gameplay, most of the controls are simple and intuitive, however, it would have been better if the icons and buttons were bigger. Also, something I noticed in the game is that it doesn’t support auto-rotate which was a surprise for me.

The game needs access to your photos, files and also to make phone calls. Without these permissions you will not be able to access all the features of the game. You will also need to create a separate log in ID and password to play all of the modes.

The developers have said that they are working on a multiplayer version of the game which will be released in October this year.
