Google has announced that it is discontinuing YouTube Gaming as a separate entity and merging it with its main website as the standalone app failed to impress.

With a hope that the Gaming page will offer the same experience as the app, Google believes that the Gaming site will help bring more viewers and content creators together now as the page will be more accessible and users won’t be forced to shuffle between two sites.

The YouTube Gaming section can be located on the bottom left side of your YouTube homepage.

YouTube had launched its Gaming app back in 2015 in order to provide stiff competition to another live streaming video platform called Twitch owned by Twitch Interactive, a subsidiary of Amazon.

The new Gaming experience holds a lot of commonalities with the original app. The YouTube Gaming page shows you recommended streams and videos, along with the most-streamed live games.

Currently, the page has more than 78 million subscribers. You also have an option to subscribe to individual games on the page to view more content regarding a particular game.

This is YouTube’ s way of saying that it’s not just a place for vlogs and Let’s Plays rather it also has livestreams. The company really wants to take the challenge to Twitch which is still the king of the hill in terms of live game streaming.

The Gaming portal is now available in most parts of the world and is slowly rolling out to other countries in the weeks to come. The YouTube Gaming app will officially disappear off the market in March 2019.
