If there is one thing that you’d love to take out of your retail shopping experience, what would it be? Long checkout queues, at least Amazon would like to think so. Mankind is exploring other planets, our cars are driving themselves and you can 3D print an organ, but our experience of retail shopping is still stuck in a time warp. Shopping in an offline store means browsing, picking your goods and standing in a long queue to checkout.

Amazon, possibly one of the world’s largest online stores, is now establishing brick and mortar stores with a revolutionary shopping experience. The new 1800 sq. ft. grocery store dubbed Amazon Go works in tandem with the Go app. The first grocery store with this technology has come up in Seattle, Washington. The app connects with your Amazon account, which already has your bank details for completing a transaction.

Critically placed Sensors on racks, computer vision and algorithms communicate with the app in your phone, so the store automatically knows what you’re buying and charges it to your account.

This new grab-and-go shopping experience is the future of retail according to the $135 online retail giant.

Someone please show this cool concept to Prime Minister Modi. If going cashless can be so much fun, who wouldn’t be on board.
