Do you always scratch your head before logging in to your e-mail account?

If you have a hard time remembering your password then a new feature introduced Yahoo could make your life easier.

Yahoo, the second most popular e-mail service provider, has rolled out a new “on demand” password system that allows you to log into your account using an individually generated unique code that the company will text to your phone.

In his official blogpost ‘A New, Simple Way to Log In’, Chris Stoner, Director of Product Management introduces the new sign-on method to users. Yahoo’s new approach has similarities with a two-step authentication process wherein a user is sent an unique time-sensitive code at time of logging-in, which needs to be entered.

According to a CNET report, Yahoo VP Dylan Casey called the feature, “the first step to eliminating passwords.”

While there’s no denying that “on demand” passwords are less secure than a two-step authentication, if “on demand” can hit the sweet spot between convenience and security, it might just convince people to leave their old passwords behind.

Of course, if your phone falls into the wrong hands, your account will be easily compromised.
