Guess what, Xiaomi has actually launched its own version of a flying drone called the Mi Drone. Priced at $460 for the 4K-recording capable drone, Mi Drone easily eclipses the likes of DJI and Parrot. And quite frankly, we cannot see them compete with the Chinese brand when it comes to pricing a drone this low.
The Xiaomi Mi Drone is a quadcopter with a three-axis gimbal, and a 4K camera attached to it which can be controlled with the help of a smart remote, using a Mi Smartphone as the viewfinder.
One of the best things about the Mi Drone is that Xiaomi claims you can dismantle the entire drone, even the camera, making it easy to carry. It’s got a 5100mAh battery which can be replaced as well, and the drone can fly continuously to shoot 27 minutes of video footage, as claimed by the company.
The drone’s positioning prowess is powered by GPS and GLONASS and also gets a visual positioning tracker at the bottom, which ensures that it doesn’t ever veer low enough to be dangerous.
Xiaomi will be offering the Mi Drone in two variants; one with a 1080-pixel camera and the other with a 4K-enabled camera for recording, available in the coming months. Yet again, Xiaomi has done the unthinkable. A drone with 4K-enabled video camera is sure to fly off the shelves. Will it come to India? Right now, your guess is as good as ours.
