Remember the fingerprint lock feature which was going to protect your WhatsApp account? That feature is now reportedly rolling out to Android beta users this week and we can confirm the availability of the same through one of our beta user.

The new feature was first spotted by WABetaInfo in March this year and the beta tester had shared images of what the feature will look like on the app.

According to the screenshots (seen below), the fingerprint authentication feature can be enabled in Settings, although this feature is disabled by default.

In order to activate the feature post the update is rolled out, users will have to go to Settings >Account >Privacy > Use Fingerprint to Unlock. After the feature is enabled the app will ask you the duration after which you want the app to be locked: After 1 minute, after 10 minutes or after 30 minutes.

As you can see here, the fingerprint option can either lock immediately or you can postpone it for half an hour. While enabling the feature, you need the reconfirm the thumb impression for the existing account on the device, after which your WhatsApp account is secure.

With this feature users can secure their WhatsApp account, by using their biometric ID registered on the device.

If you still haven’t got the feature, we’d reckon it should be rolling out to all the users outside the beta ecosystem in the coming weeks.

WABetaInfo had also announced mentioned few months back that WhatsApp will be getting a Dark Mode which it showcased in its latest update. However, there is still no news when the 2.19.82 update will be rolled out for all users in its final version.

WhatsApp is expected to add more options for the users. Recently, many of them were finally able to change settings of group invitations, making sure only people they know are able to add them to groups, and not everyone on the platform.
