Samsung is relying a lot on their new flagship offerings in India - the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge in India.
But are the new phones good enough when it comes to their specifications?
We got a hold of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and here is a specs breakdown of the new phone.
Design
Samsung has let go of the plastics here. The Galaxy S6 offers the shine and chic of a flagship smartphone. The smartphone has a glass finish and a metal frame made of aircraft alloys. The back panel is in Corning Gorilla Glass 4. It is by far the best looking smartphone Samsung has put out in years.

Display
The S6 sports a 5.1” Quad HD Super AMOLED display. It is super-bright and highly non-reflective under direct sunlight. The Quad HD display produces a pixel resolution of 2560 x 1440 and has a pixel density of 577ppi. That makes the display sharp and the use of Corning Gorilla Glass 4 gives it sturdiness. It’s definitely an improvement over the displays seen in earlier ‘hero’ products from Samsung.

Processor
The S6 comes has 2 Quad core processors that are clubbed as one making it an Octa core powered smartphone. One Quad core processor is clocked at 2.1GHZ and the other at 1.2Ghz. The processor is also backed by a 3GB RAM which is more that sufficient for any kind of multi-tasking. This is not a Qualcomm powered system on chip and is Samsung’s own processor. But that does not mean it does not perform. We found the processor quite powerful.

Camera
Comes with a 16 megapixel rear camera that comes with Optical Image Stabilisation. The camera also features auto real-time HDR and fast f/1.9 aperture, which has pretty much become a standard across all android smartphones. The rear camera is also great for taking low light images.
There is also a 5 megapixel front facing camera that has an HDR mode in it. The images so far come out really good on the front camera.

Battery
Samsung this time has done away with a removable battery on their flagship smartphone. On the Galaxy S6 you get a non-removable 2550 mAh battery that needs a full charge everyday. The phone also has wireless charging capabilities that is good to have but you will have to shell out some extra money to buy a wireless charger.

Price
The S6 comes at a whooping price tag of Rs 49,900 for a 32GB storage variant and Rs 55,900 for the 64GB one. Exorbitant of course, but that’s pretty much what a flagship phone by any company costs.
Samsung played it safe and landed the Samsung Galaxy S6 in that price bracket where it can compete with the likes of the iPhone 6, HTC One M9+ and the Sony Xperia Z3
