More telecom goodies for Indian mobile users this week, as Vodafone-Idea has decided to revise its prepaid plans with more daily data on offer. This is probably being done to counter the progress made by Reliance Jio, which as of latest reports, caters to over 250 million users in the country.
To retain its users, Vodafone’s Rs 199 and Rs 399 prepaid plans have been revised with an additional 100MB data added to their daily quota. This means that any Vodafone users recharging their phones with the aforementioned plans will get 1.5GB data every day.
The additional data might not count a lot on its own, but with free voice calls on offer, users on the network are likely to be pleased with the latest change in plan.
As for the validity with the Rs 199 plan you get a month’s use (28 days in telecom terms) and for Rs 399 you get 70 days of usage. Both plans offer 42GB and 105GB data every month respectively. You also get to make free outgoing calls on roaming across the country, and supplied with 100 SMS every day, that is part of the telecom regulations.
It’s worth remembering that post the usage of 1.5GB data for the day, users will be charged at 50 paise per MB till the day gets over.
Vodafone has somewhat followed on Airtel’s path with its plan revision, which also added 100MB data to its Rs 199 plan. Having said that, Reliance Jio continues to offer better value per GB, with 1.5GB daily data offered with its Rs 149 prepaid plan.
And unlike its competition, once you exhaust the 1.5GB data on Jio, you won’t be charged for using additional data, but the speed will come down to 128kbps.
